Yesterday I had the PET (Positron Emission Tomagraphy) scan done. It went well and the people were very nice. It kind of goes like so....you check in at the U of M Diagnostics dept. and they take you back to a room where they start an IV. They then take a lead lined container that has a needle sticking out of it and inject what is in the lead lined container (sugar water that is radioactive) into my arm. I then rest in a darkened room in a recliner for 1 1/2 hours so the "sugar water" can circulate in my body. The sugar in the fluid will attach itself to any cancer cells in the body and glow pink or yellow on the scan results. Then they put you on a guerney that slides into the machine like an MRI machine (only more quiet) for 1/2 hour...then that's it, you're done. They said results will be in a couple of days.
I went to the Dr today to have a couple of things checked out and the results of the PET scan were in....all CLEAR!!!!. No signs of cancer cells in my brain, liver, lungs, bones, etc. HURRAH!!! Gosh what a relief!
Now all that's left is the Monday appointment with the Oncologist to find out what's going on with a STAGE IIIA, what kind of chemo treatments, for how long, and how often.
Hubby is in California at the job and having soo much fun doing it. He just loves working where they appreciate what he can bring to the table. He says the people he's working with are really great. I already know this, because they let me have him while going through all this and are completely understanding. Thank you guys!
Thank you ALL soooo much for your thoughts and prayers! We did it!!!
