Back in USA

Hellooo!

Yes we are back in the USA. I needed to get a sterotactic breast biopsy.

We got back to the states Thursday 18th, had the biopsy Monday Jan 21st, saw the Dr. Thursday Jan 24th and was told I have breast cancer. We have an MRI scheduled for next Wednesday, Jan 30th to determine exactly where it is, how many spots there are, if there are more than suspected and also if there are any spots in the other breast. The report will go to the Dr. and then....we go from there.
My last mammo in November picked it up right before we left for Dubai so I thought I could get the biopsy there but they don't do stereotactic biopsies, only palpable ones. Seems they are about 15 years behind in that department, so my Dubai Dr. suggested we come back here for that. She is an American surgeon, there to set up the breast clinic and get Dubai up to date on "breast" equipment and treatments. To bad they didn't have all the equipment then. But we will get good care here.

So far the tests show a Stage I cancer...very good to have if you have to have it.

I haven't decided what to do but am leaning towards getting them both removed and whatever else they want to do. With a lumpectomy and radiation (they say it could come back if they don't get all the bad cells and then with radiation one of the side effects could be getting cancer from the radiation later on) I don't want to risk having it come back ...besides I could get reconstructive surgery later.....that's something I'll think about. Anyway, I will keep you up to date, after the MRI.
