Happy Mother's Day everyone! It's been a great weekend here. The weather has been wonderful. Not humid and the sun has been shining. That makes my day!
The down side is the mosquitos are out and they are HUGE! Even Paul thinks so. We looked around the stores for the equipment needed for our "Mosquito Magnet" machine (draws mosquitos to it, instead of people) and found out that the company went out of business and there just aren't any more parts that we need to make the Magnet work. DAMN! Just my luck and we paid $500.00 for the machine last year! Guess we're going to have to get on ebay to find the things we need, if there is any left.
I planted lots of flowers in the area in front of the porch. Hosta's, Coleus, Caladiums, Day Lilies, ground cover that produces little purple flowers and other things, most of them shade perennials. Can't wait to see them start blooming. I also planted Morning Glories around the ugly wood post that we have to have in the front yard for the Satellite Dish. That's an eyesore, but maybe the flowers will help. In the picture above...the little area with the huge rock...that's a fake rock...HA! Fooled ya! The little rock is real though. That's our well under that big one and I planted flowers all around that too.
Bet your wondering what Paul is up to all the while I am planting flowers......he has started putting in a sprinkler system. That's great for me. I won't have to worry about remembering to change the location of the sprinkler all the time...I forget the water is running out there sometimes. He's starting with the front yard first...the other side will be a little more tricky I think, because it's sloped. And...then there is the garden....we were looking for those thin green hoses that have tons of holes all along it and can't find one of those at all! I was going to use 2 of them to soak the garden...but guess not. Oh well, we'll figure something else out. The garden is going to have potatoes, broccoli, tomatoes, carrots, lettuce, onion, peppers, squash and green beans. Can't wait to see the end results of that!
Our Mother's Day meal is BBQ ribs, baked potatoes and steamed broccoli...mmmmmmm yummy! Can't wait...Paul is such a wonderful cook. He spoils me and I love it. I got me a good one that's for sure. :)
Mom fell down in her driveway Monday and couldn't get up, so she had to crawl to the front porch and then get up. My gosh does it never end for her? If it's not one thing, it's another. She has been laid up for a week from that, with soreness and bruising. I talked with her today and it's been 8 months that she has been ill...starting with the cancer. Her voice sounds weak and frail. Now on top of everything else...Nausea....with most things she eats...I'm worried and concerned. The Dr. put her on a gastric reflux medication but...doesn't sound like it's working.
Please say a prayer for her to get better, get back to her normal health or close to it. Enough is enough I think.
