Long Island on a Sunday

Traditional House in New England
Garden Nursery to look like neighborhood homes
McDonalds has to look like neighborhood homes too
Greenport, NY ferry area that goes to Connecticut
Whale of a Tale Lighthouse
139 rickety steps to beach and back up again!
Atlantic beach
Waves erroded the layers of the rock
Beautiful

Atlantic view

Hubby had his first day off in 3 weeks last Sunday (March 22)....so we went driving and where ever we ended up we ended up.....well it was Greenport, NY. The end of Long Island breaks into two pieces, like a lobster claw.(I didn't know that)We ended up on the north side of the "claw".
We walked throughout the town and found a candy store...I grabbed a basket and filled it not 1/2 full, went to the counter, gave her my debit card, she went to scan it, totaled it, $11.86, then told me there was a $20.00 minimum needed before using a credit card...I said you mean I have to buy $9.00 more before you'll sell this to me? She said "yup"....I said "sorry, I don't want that much candy", took my card and walked out. I can't believe, in this recession, she would throw out a $12.00 sale. But they must not need business that much.

We also found a Winery and did a wine tasting. Found a wonderful Reisling and a terrific Merlot both of which we bought. I was amazed at how many vineyards and also farm land there was on this little island.
