August 14, 2006 Monday

Beautiful Monday morning.....the flowers are blooming again.

Friday we went north with a couple of friends.....Stacy and John (she's from Texas and he's from Kentucky, they are great people). The guys went fishing, Stacy and I went shopping. John and Hubby caught about 30 fish over a 2 day span.... walleye, northerns and bass. Supposedly, no one in that area was having any luck catching any fish and John and Hubby caught 30 (Hubby's in back and John's in front). They were thrilled and the fish were all keepers. Even a couple of 3-31/2 pound Walleye.... They also had a few get away, but the weekend was a success for the guys. 8 pounds of fish filets are now in the freezer.
Stacy bought a pair of cool Boots and a winter jacket and of course a cool sweatshirt. .....she's now set for her 1st really Cold winter.

There is a "Christmas store" going out of business. It's been there for 11 years and I'm sorry to see it go. They have always had some really interesting Christmas tree decorations and all kinds of Lionel Train items. They have a train going around the whole ceiling of the store. The store will be missed.

We ate like Kings and Queens, compliments of Hubby's Mom, and the weather was perfect.... then there was an all day down pour that was much needed on Sunday. I mean a downpour! The rain was white, it was coming down so hard. I love those kinds of days, perfect for reading or baking cookies. But I must say it is good to be home. We forgot the camera at home, so we didn't get any pictures of the fish, darnit.

It is beautiful up there. A perfect getaway place. Hubby saw a deer come to the lakeshore to drink.....the wildlife is everywhere. So peaceful.

Yeah they were all mad about not catching fish because Paul and his buddy were catching them all. Oh to have fresh seafood...I would die for some. That's one thing I do when I go back to TX...eat all the seafood I can get my hands on...because I do live in Ca and though it sits next to this big ocean...no seafood places. PETA must get involved and make Californians think eating seafood is torture. Sounds like you guys had fun.

I had a great time this past weekend. Mukluks, mukluks, mukluks. What a fun word to say. HA! I think I gained a few pounds from eating all that food. I can't wait to go again.
